You will not automatically be assigned to do a Sprint or Olympic distance triathlon as part of your IRONMAN 70.3 or full IRONMAN training, as this is not a regular or required part of a race training plan.
Some athletes will choose to schedule a Sprint or Olympic distance triathlon into their training in the weeks or months before they're entered in an IRONMAN 70.3 or full-IRONMAN. Generally this is because they want to get practice with parts of the race they're not as comfortable with, such as transitions between the disciplines, or the swim start.
If you choose to do a Sprint or Olympic in the weeks/months leading up to your IRONMAN (or 70.3) race, be sure to enter those races into your RACES tab on the app, so we can properly taper you into the event, and provide the proper recovery workouts after the race to avoid injury while you continue to train for your IRONMAN (or 70.3).
